Establishment of Doe Deere’s Lime Crime Cosmetic Line

Russian born Doe Deere has swept the cosmetic and fashion world by storm. While in elementary school in Russia she allowed her entrepreneurial spirit to spark when she began selling stylish temporary tattoos to her classmates. When Doe turned 18 years old she found herself New York bound and in a band. She met her husband while in her band. Once settled in New York Doe Deere began furthering her education at The Fashion Institute of Technology. Doe majored in fashion design and illustration but quickly realized she wanted to drop out and start her own clothing line.

In 2004 Doe Deere began her eBay store that featured her clothing designs. She knew her looks needed to be completed with unique and eye catching make up. Unfortunately at that time there weren’t many color options as far as eye shadow palettes, lip sticks and nail polishes that would achieve the eye catching look she was looking to achieve. The lack of variety is what sparked Doe to establish her Lime Crime cosmetic line. Her coveted lipsticks became a crowd pleaser quickly. Doe marketed her make up on eBay and featured cosmetic tutorials that earned her a loyal fan following. Doe wanted to establish a brand that was true to her own beliefs. Make up needed to be fun, vegan, cruelty free and inspirational. She chose the unicorn as her mascot because it evokes some of the deep rooted loves of Doe’s which include fairy tales and cosmetics.

The official Lime Crime cosmetic line was launched in October of 2009. When Doe launched her make-up line she was able to establish a large online fan base by engaging her crowd. Doe often featured giveaways and contests where she asked her fans to show of certain themed make up. To date Doe Deere has over three million Instagram followers who are seeking her make up trends and guidance on a daily basis. Doe is a firm believer in empowering women and embracing an entrepreneurial spirit. Recently she spoke at the PHAMExpo and Vegas Nay’s Stardust Tour to provide knowledge and guidance for those who are hoping to found their own businesses. One of the biggest decisions that Doe was faced with was finding the right laboratory. Doe wanted to be sure she had scientists working with her that would understand her need for cruelty free and vegan products. She admitted that finding the right staff that shared her end goal was a bit of a challenge. Doe is currently considering fairy tales that she loves and creating a new line of Lime Crime cosmetics. She is always open to customer feedback and embraces both the positive and the negative as ways to further grow her brand. Learn more:  http://thestoryexchange.org/doe-deere/
